• background or introduction

• review of the literature

• discussion of methodology

• data analysis

• researcher’s conclusion

3. Explain the protection of human subjects and cultural considerations of the journal article.

4. Identify strengths and limitations of the study.

Problems need to include all required steps and answer(s) for full credit. All answers need to be reduced to lowest terms where possible.

Answer the following problems showing your work and explaining (or analyzing) your results.

  1. In a poll, respondents were asked if they have traveled to Europe. 68 respondents indicated that they have traveled to Europe and 124 respondents said that they have not traveled to Europe. If one of these respondents is randomly selected, what is the probability of getting someone who has traveled to Europe?
  2. The data set represents the income levels of the members of a golf club. Find the probability that a randomly selected member earns at least $100,000.

  1. Of the 538 people who had an annual check-up at a doctor’s office, 215 had high blood pressure. Estimate the probability that the next person who has a check-up will have high blood pressure.
  2. Find the probability of correctly answering the first 4 questions on a multiple choice test using random guessing. Each question has 3 possible answers.
  3. Explain the difference between independent and dependent events.
  4. Provide an example of experimental probability and explain why it is considered experimental.
  5. The measure of how likely an event will occur is probability. Match the following probability with one of the statements. There is only one answer per statement.

The assignment this week is to collect quantitative data for a minimum of 10 days from ONE of your daily activities. Some examples of data collection include:

  • The number of minutes you spend studying every day.
  • The time it takes to cook meals each day.
  • The amount of daily time spent talking on the phone.
  • The amount of time you drive each day.

In a paper (1–3 pages), describe the data you are going to collect and how you are going to keep track of the time. Within the paper, incorporate the concepts we are learning in the module, including (but not limited to) probability theory, independent and dependent variables, and theoretical and experimental probability. Discuss your predictions of what you anticipate the data to look like and events that can skew the data.  Collect data for at least 10 days.  Include at least 3-5 days of data with your SLP 1 submission.  Continue collecting data for the remaining days for use in SLP 2.  Do you think the data will provide a valid representation of these activities? Explain why or why not.

Submit your paper at the end of Module 1. Future SLP assignments depend on this data and thus this assignment needs to be completed early in the session.

SLP Assignment Expectations

Answer all questions posted in the instructions. Use information from the modular background readings and videos as well as any good-quality resource you can find. Cite all sources in APA style and include a reference list at the end of your paper.

Note about page length: Your ability to clearly articulate and explain these concepts is being assessed. The page length is a general guideline. A 3- or 4-page paper does not necessarily guarantee a grade of “A.” An “A” paper would include detailed information and explanations of all the assignment requirements listed above. The letter grade will be based upon demonstrated mastery of the content and ability to articulate and apply the concepts in the assignment. Keep this in mind while writing your paper.

Week 4 Project Task: Intervention Plan

The topic for this health promotion proposal plan is African American women living with HIV/AIDS in Miami, FL. You must create an intervention plan that educates this population on risk factors, treatments, and so forth.

In the first weeks of this course, you have identified a health promotion issue and identified a potential intervention. You have also completed a comprehensive review of the literature and now will integrate that information to create an intervention designed to address the health promotion issue. As you create the intervention, try to keep your focus on an intervention that you will be able to evaluate, which is the next and final step in the project. Be sure to include all feedback from your instructor in each step of the project.

By Monday, September 26, 2016, post your strategies for addressing the key focus in your community in a two-to-three-page Word document to W4: Assignment 2 Dropbox.

Psy 496 W3 Applied Project D1

In this discussion, you will create a presentation from the point of view of two specific professionals who are experts on the topic you selected in Week One for your Final Project.  For this discussion:

  • Consider the psychological career alternatives available and determine from which fields of expertise your two points of view will come.
  • Select the two professionals you will use with expertise on the topic you selected.  Your professionals’ identity may be based on a real person that you know, or they may be made-up based on the job description of a professional in the field.  The titles of your professionals should represent actual jobs (based on job descriptions) from categories in two different areas of mental health (e.g., psychiatry and psychology, social work and counseling).
  • In one or two sentences, briefly introduce your experts by describing their current careers as well as their backgrounds. The experts will be providing scholarly information on your selected topic based on the point-of-view of their respective professions.
Provide evaluations from the experts in the course of the presentation, regarding contributions of psychological research on the chosen topic in an applied context.
  • Include information from at least two peer-reviewed articles that were published within the last five years to substantiate your experts’ claims.  You must select these two articles on your own.  You may not use resources listed within this course.  For information on how to generate search terms for specific resources, visit the Ashford University Library.

To begin, create a presentation using the
Sample Presentation Template, of at least five slides (not including the title and reference slides).  Provide the following elements in your presentation:

  • A side-by-side comparison of your experts including their current careers as well as their backgrounds
  • A brief general explanation of the topic chosen in Week One
  • Provide a slide for each of the experts’ points of view including appropriate citations of your referenced resources
  • A brief overview and comparison of the two experts’ points of view
  • A separate reference slide must be included at the end of the presentation
  • A minimum of three scholarly sources published within the last five years must be included in the discussion. References are cited according to APA guidelines.
  • A link to a website from an organization associated with each expert’s profession.  Include information from that website where the corresponding expert is presenting her or his point of view. Include the websites in the reference slide using the full APA citation format for websites. Do not just copy and paste the URL to the website.
  • Use the sample template provided to organize your presentation. You may change the font sizes in the presentation. However, do not use a font smaller than 20 pt. You are encouraged to insert relevant figures and graphics. Make sure to appropriately cite any images you use that you did not create yourself. If you include a table or figure from a journal article, cite it according to APA guidelines.

Next, create a 3 to 5 minute screencast of your presentation using
Screenr.com. Screenr does not allow for screencasts that are longer than 5 minutes, so practicing your presentation prior to recording it is highly recommended.

  • Please include a title for your presentation in the description box when you publish your screencast.  For questions using Screenr, refer to the directions below.

Finally, copy and paste the URL link to your screencast in your discussion forum response section.

  • Your presentation must utilize at least two scholarly peer-reviewed resources, in addition to your textbook, cited in APA format as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.
  • All references used within the presentation must be cited properly within the slides and included on the required reference slide, which will be the last slide within your presentation.
  • Due to the time limit of your presentation video, you are not required to speak or read through the reference list. However, you must include your reference list within the discussion post along with your screencast URL link and submit your presentation via doc sharing.

Channel Levels
Select either direct versus indirect distribution by writing about the pros and cons of both methods. (Research support is required)

Needs of Target Market
Analyze your target market’s needs. Explain what you know about your target market and what they want from a channel of distribution. (Research support is required)

Digital Commerce
Is your product/service conducive to digital distribution? You may wish to research a competitive product or service to see if it has a strong digital presence. Or you can engage in general research about going digital. (Research support is required.)

Since you are engaging in research, be sure to cite and reference the sources in APA format. The paper should be written in third person; this means words like “I,” “we,” and “you” are not appropriate. For more information see Differences Between First and Third Person.
